About The Business Voice
The Business Voice is a networking group. We meet once a week to learn more about each other's business and to share information about potential leads. Everyone in the group is part of your own personal sales force. To learn more about how being a member of The Business Voice can enhance your business, come by for a visit. We currently meet at Brail's Restaurant on 17th & Willamette each Wednesday at 1130am. Meetings start promptly and try to finish by 1230pm. There are 2 speakers from the group each meeting in rotation and they have :
10 MINUTE PRESENTATIONS
The purpose of the 10 minute presentation is to help the other members of the group increase their understanding of your business to make it easier for them to bring you leads.
You should prepare for each presentation. Develop an outline, practice your talk, bring visual aids and show up on time.
Be sure to cover what your business does (products, services, etc.). Talk about the key people in your company. Tell us why your business is unique or what distinguishes you from the competition. Share your marketing methods with us. What kind of leads work best for you? Do you have a power partner? Add some background about yourself.
Vary your presentations. Do not simply repeat the same presentation each time. Add to your member's knowledge base over time.
Allow time for questions, and expand upon the questions if necessary. The timer is set for 8 minutes for your talk and allows 2 minutes for q & a.
After your presentation, get feedback from the members on how to
improve your presentation or what other items they would like to hear.
Leadership Roles
Each member of the group is expected to participate in different leadership functions over time. While it is important to share the administrative responsibilities, taking a turn at leadership is also one more way to market your business. You will have more opportunities to talk to the group and more exposure to the other members.
The role of the President is to oversee the meetings and to manage the overall business of the group. Usually you become President after serving as Vice-President for six months. The President's job is to motivate the group by maintaining the positive nature of the meetings, keeping the meeting moving and encouraging members to bring leads and guests.
The Vice President is primarily responsible for assisting the chair on an as needed basis. The VP also fills in if the chair is unable to attend, and is responsible for scheduling the speakers for each meeting.
The Secretary/Treasurer is responsible for collecting dues and membership fees and paying all of the group's bills. This person also keeps attendance and monitors compliance with the attendance policies. Also manages BV's tax status and legal fees.
The Membership Committee helps the group focus on building the membership and resolving conflicts about membership, such as category exclusivity. It meets once a month to consider new members and to explore new ways of promoting the group.
The Social Director is responsible for making sure that we have a group social each quarter. The function is usually at a member's home and is quite informal. Members are encouraged to bring their family and/or guests.
